Your DJ Out - Syndication In

Why did I start DJMoves.com? Randy Dotinga probably never even heard of this site, yet he pretty much summed it up in his article yesterday for the North County Times of San Diego.

He writes, "... across the country, nationally broadcast hosts like Seacrest are snatching up time slots once manned by local disc jockeys." (full article)

The only part he missed is how nobody bothers to let you, the loyal listener, know what happened to your favorite radio program.

Nobody, that is, uh-hem, until DJMoves.

Dallas-Fort Worth's Live 105.3 is Dead

Russ Martin fired, station format flipped. No, you're not hearing things, and no, you don't have your radio tuned to the wrong station.

Live 105.3 is now The Fan 105.3, an all-sports station in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Russ Martin's afternoon job from 3 to 7 will now be filled by Ben & Skin, who had been on the station earlier in the day.

The Jagger morning show will still be starting up the station in the morning, even as the rest of the day's format is shaken up.

Read all about it from Dan X. McGRAW writing for The Dallas Morning News.

O & A Out in Boston

The third time is no charm for Opie & Anthony - they have been removed from the Boston airwaves yet again, making it three times in ten years.

A report in the Boston Herald states that Boston's 104.1 (WBCN FM) may have cut the infamous duo because of poor ratings, but also mentioned that the station claims they simply wanted to move to a local format with local talent.

Alternatively, O and A stated on their website that WBCN cut them to save cash.

WCBN have already moved Toucher & Rich from afternoons to mornings.

Cheryl Kaye Found

Just received an email tip that Cheryl Kaye has been found on 102.9 Lite FM in the Twin Cities, MN.

It's been about one year almost to the day that we first reported her disappearance from KS95.

If you live in the Twin Cities area, you can find Kevin and Cheryl Mornings on 102.9 Lite FM weekdays from 5 to 9 a.m.

I almost worked in Minnesota once when my small Connecticut business got acquired by a big-ass company with a big-ass regional office in MN. Nice place, but too cold for me.

Go West Young Man

Unfortunately for Steve West, San Diego is about as far west as it gets.

Modern Rock XTRA-FM 91X, San Diego's Cutting Edge of Rock did some real cutting when it relieved Steve West of his midday host duties yesterday.

In a Godfather-like moment, the same corporate bean counting company that owns 91X, Finest City Broadcasting, simultaneously cut host Sherry Knight from their sister San Diego station, Magic 92.5. The San Diego's Old School website, and the 91X website, have both quietly removed all references to the exited DJs.
