DJ Signs Off The Air

When I first reported that Joe Scott was fired from K-Rock in March, I thought he would be back on the air in no time. He headlined a popular morning show, and the station simply cleaned house - firing virtually all on-air staff... Nothing to do with Joe Scott's talent or ratings.

Now, unfortunately, that's not going to happen. Rest in peace, Joe.

DJs Check In

DJs check in, and this one actually checks out (he emailed me from a clear channel email address)

Just got this email a few hours ago from a young lad we reported was off the air back in January of 2006, and I thought I should update the site just in case the suicide joke was a little cry for help:
Honored to be mentioned on the website...I am on W4 Country in the 3-7 slot. If you care to update it. If not I promise not to hang myself.

Adam Rey

Yes, you can now hear Adam Rey on W4 on your FM dial.

It took me like 5 minutes of surfing around the W4 website to realize that the station is actually heard at 102.9 on the FM dial, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Well, good luck A-Rey, and keep your chin up... W4 looks like a good station.

Beantown bigot

You can't go around calling people fat lesbians when you have a microphone and are on the air, or anywhere for that matter. You just can't do it.

John DePetro of WRKO 680 AM in Boston did not realize that when he called the Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate from the Green Party a "Fat Lesbian" last Thursday, according to

Nice job, John. Hope you don't mind moving down south to find a new job.

Where's the point?

Or better yet, WHAT's the point?

You like to listen to rock from the 1980s - that doesn't make you a bad person. Then why didn't they give you a little warning? Why didn't they tell you that your 80s rock station was about to flip to an all-talk station?

I'm sure they're not talking much about it on the air at 97.5 in the Dayton Ohio area, and this is all you'll get on the old station's website (if it's even still there by the time you click):

You have reached the former page of 95.7 The Point WDPT Radio. We want to thank you for supporting The Point throughout the years. The 95.7 frequency has become WHIO-FM. The great news and talk programming of WHIO will now be available on FM.

If you're looking for great music from the 70's and 80's please try our sister station 95.3 The Eagle.

Kejal new host of Drivetime on Sunrise Radio?

I just saw this headline, and thought to myself, "damn, self, Asia needs DJ Moves, too".

Then I read the article, and thought, I don't know enough about Asia to expand this site to Asia. I thought that when I realized I wasn't sure if they were talking about Asia anymore, since they mention Dubai.

Too much thinking.

Off the Air and Over the Fence

Most DJs get fired in this business and have to go live with their moms, or sleep on their buddy's coach for a while, or try to get some gigs at some lame ass weddings until they get another real DJing gig.

But not Abel Quiñonez, the host from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tucson Arizona's La Caliente - or KCMT - at 102.1 on your FM dial. That poor guy not only is off the air, but he also got arrested and kicked out of the United States!

Abel Quiñonez, also known as Jose Abel Castro Lopez, was reportedly applying for his green card and is married to a woman who is a legal US citizen. Further, his Visa just expired in January, and he's been working for KCMT since 2002 and living in the US since 1995.

The popular disc jockey doubled as program director at the station where he DJ'd, which - by the way - is Tucson's most popular Spanish-language radio station.

WTF? Anybody got any answers as to why we are wasting our time and money chasing someone who is positively contributing to our society out of the country?

Shaggy's hot daughter

How many things didn't you know in the following sentence:

Kasey Kasem, well known for weekly top 40 countdowns before being replaced by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest in 2004, is also famous for playing the voice of Shaggy in the Scooby Doo cartoons, AND has an uber-hot daughter named Kerri Kasem.

Did you know any of that? Didya? Huh? Didya?

And why am I mentioning it all?

Because Kerri Kasem - the uber-hot daughter - has a new morning radio gig, and I thought you might come here trying to figure out who she was once you heard her. She is also a former V-Jay, model, and had other similarly cool jobs that you get to have when you are hot and have good connections. She's probably also very talented.

Oh yeah.... Kerri joins Alan Stock on KXNT 840 AM in Las Vegas for a morning radio talk show from 5am-9am weekdays.

More importantly, here are her pics on her official website.

Maria Todd and Atom Smasher Together Again?

Ever since Maria and Atom were fired last July, people have come to my site trying to figure out what the heck happened to them.

Before any more of you slackers writes in and tells me that Maria Todd is appearing on yet ANOTHER Texas station in the morning, let me tell you what this sleuth has put together.

Here's what's going on, as far as I can tell.

On Monday, I reported to you that a listener reported to me that Maria was going to be joining Kidd Kraddick in the morning in San Antonio on 96.1.

Then today, somebody named Jose D. sent me an email (when he probably should have been working) and told me that Maria was going to be filling in for Kellie Rasberry who is going on maternity leave from KISS 106.1 in Dallas.

Here's the deal: Kellie Rasberry is Kidd Kraddick's pregnant sidekick (I don't think Kidd is the father, so don't go there), and Kidd's show is syndicated throughout the southern US (and a couple other states not in the south but that maybe should be - you know who you are).

When Atom Smasher got an afternoon gig on KISS 106.1 last month, he must have pulled in Maria for the upcoming temporary morning gig.

Now that I'm a writer of radio related rants, I should have known all about Kidd (with 2 "D"s) and his little morning show empire.

Where will things go from here? That's probably up to you and your advertising dollars, but don't cry for M & A - it looks like they've landed on their feet, for now.

Maria in San Antonio?

Valerie just wrote me 4 hours ago, and I'm happy to hear the following from her regarding Maria Todd - formerly of Houston's Atom and Maria show on 104 KRBE:

Hello from San Antonio...
A tip for ya...Maria has been hired by 96.1 in San Antonio to co-host Kidd Kraddick in the Morning show. Happy to have her...I moved to SA 4 years ago and miss her great banter and
sense of humor. She'll be a breath of fresh air around here...Welcome Maria!!!

If you're in the area, please listen to Mix 96.1 and let me know if this is true (not that I don't believe valerie - just looking for a 2nd source, ya'll).

107.5 is flipped, Movin moves in to Portland and Dallas

Loyal listeners of Portland Oregon's (pronounced with an "in" at the end, not an "on") 107.5 KVMX The Mix, and Dallas Texas' 107.5 KOAI Oasis, were surprised when their beloved stations were replaced with a new format known as Movin.

Movin moves in. Listeners expected to take it or leave it as the new format is marketed to a bigger pool of demographics. Why can't radio stations be like sports teams? You know that when the Yankees start replacing staff over the next several months, you'll not only hear about it from the team, but also from ESPN, the YES network, and thousands of newspapers around the world. I guess many of the stations I write about aren't as big as the Yankees, but their fans may be as loyal and are not treated with enough respect when changes are made.

From the Dallas Morning News.

From the Oregonian (which I think is pronouned with an "own-eee-in" at the end).

Big Phat gets smacked with a Pork Chop

92Q Jams WERQ (B'More's self-proclaimed #1 Radio Station) has pulled the classic radio station move of firing a DJ with no warning and no explanation given to either the DJ or you, the station's loyal listeners.

The big phat morning show is now without both Troy Johnson and Sonjay and is now being billed as marc clarke and the big phat morning show. Troy Johnson was fired, and Sonjay was moved to an off-air role according to rumors.

The station broke up a team "known for its lively discussions of current events, social issues and politics" according to the Baltimore Sun, and put in a DJ known as "Pork Chop."

If a Bear syndicates in the woods, would anybody listen?

Tina, a devoted DJMoves visitor from Waco writes, "Where is 102.5 The Bear morning show host Johnny Strange and his side kick Dana? Now we get Bob And Tom syndicated radio show...I thought he was a local fav?"

Good question, Tina. I did some digging and found that there are many more unhappy fans in Waco Texas, and many of them are rallying on this local message board. It's interesting, because it looks like an "insider" is posting there, and it even has an attempt at an explanation from the station.

Good luck, Waco!

If you like them so much, Cara, go join them

After her complaints about how many DJ's are not on the air in Chicago anymore were published by my favorite columnist in Chicago, Cara Carriveau was promptly placed in their midst as she was fired from The Loop 97.9 WLUP.

This is according to radio-trade rag Radio Inc Magazine.

Julie Hoyt-Fisk Jacks On

Rumor has it (because somebody emailed it to me) that your beloved Julie Fisk is now doing work on the face-less, DJ-less and soul-less Jack FM.

When we last saw Julie, she had just been dumped from (or left on her own accord) the Morning Mix on Mix 102.9 in Dallas, and YOU were outraged (based on the spike in this site's traffic and the tone of your posts).

She was no where to be found for much of a year, but now we're hearing that the voice that goes by Julie on Jack FM (presumably the Jack in the Dallas area) is YOUR Julie - the same Julie everybody was outraged about when she was fired (or quit).

Is it true? You'll have to listen to the horrible station and see for yourself, as the trying-to-be-too-cool-for-school-Dallas-Jack website doesn't give their non-DJ's of even mentioning their names.

Brad Walker gets his walking papers

Lansing has one less morning man now that Brad Walker, co-host of the new 94.1 WVIC morning show, was fired on Wednesday after his shift was over. I think it was thoughtful of the station to let him work for the day and tell him after he finished his shift. That way, he could concentrate better on his show and not be bothered by wanting to say goodbye to his fans or anything like that. Plus, he only gave the station 9 and a half years of service, so it was totally fair of them to give him NO notice when they fired him... It's not like he worked there for 30 years or something. What's everybody's problem??? Suck it up and stop your bitching; he probably sucked anyway or they would have fired him and kept the chick (Mary Turner).

Opie and Anthony Rock Detroit

The Detroit Free Press is reporting what you probably already new would happen in Rock City. Rover is out, and O and A are in - moving from a lowly sports talk station on the AM dial to Rover's comfy home for the last 8 months on the coveted FM dial at 97.1 FreeFM (WKRK - don't call us K-Rock).

Who is going to fill O and A's shoes on XYT 1270 AM? Mike and Mike of ESPN, of course.

The Satellite-straddling duo and the Detroit station are promoting their new placement by giving away an Apple MacBook. Just click here, record something dirty.

Please mention to give this site some free promotion. Thanks!

Ken Matthews Gets B104-Benched

After 15 years in the morning show slot at B104, the station abruptly decided to pull Ken Matthews off the air when his contract ended Friday, according to Susan Kalan of The Express-Times found on

The report says Ken Matthews is still employed by the station's corporate monster-owner, Clear Channel, which I guess means he's off the air but getting paid (sounds good to me!) On the other hand, since his contract ended, he's probably only getting paid minimum wage while they hold him back from going to work for the competition (is there any in Whitehall Township, PA?)

Mike Kelly, the B-104 afternoon guy, is all-too-happy to take over Ken Matthews' morning slot until a new morning host is found. But who is left doing afternoons? I don't know - please post 'em if you got 'em.

Here are your 3 links for Whitehall Township, PA:

Jerry Springer Fired From Air America, Company May Go Bankrupt

John London Tells His Story To Us

This past April we told you that John London was fired from San Francisco's FREE FM station, 106.9 KFIR, for allegedly "offering a reward on the air to have talk host Penn Jillette killed."

Well, it looks like John London just Googled himself and found us, so here's an update from him to you, via DJMoves.

Hugely Stupid

This is stupid.

Listeners of 107.3 "The Nerve", a rock station in Rochester, NY, were surprised to turn their radios on and suddenly not hear rock anymore last week.

What did the station switch to? Everything. Right now the station is calling itself "Huge 107.3" and playing a different music format each hour. Better yet, they are asking YOU - the listeners - which format to stick with.

Hey, I know! Tell them you want ROCK!

Haven't done 3 local links in a while. Here ya go Rochester.

Igor, you can't play that game

And you're fired.

At least he's "suspended" for the time being, and expected back on air on 9/11.

Igor, of Q92 WZKL FM, began a five-day suspension Friday night after his "Name That Tune with Mongoloid Mike" bit received numerous complaints from across the country.

The station only pulled the DJ after numorous complaints. They had aired the bit once a month for the previous eight months, bur received no objections, so they continued to air it. The station and Igor have since apologized.

Mike Malloy is off-the-air, America

Air America fired Mike Malloy today without any warning or reason (other than to be told it was for "financial reasons"). I thought they were supposed to be nice and reasonable people. How about a little explanation, folks?

Some are speculating, including Stephen Pearcy writing on, that Malloy was fired for criticizing Israel.

Here's some more about Mike on Wiki, but it's Wiki, so who knows if it's all true or just truthiness.

Kathy Malloy, Mike's wife and his show's producer, has also posted a message on this site (no, not djmoves, THIS site) and promises more info, so stay tuned...

"Lefties" Moves to the Right

The Air America folks that you listen to in New York City are moving to the right...

OF YOUR RADIO DIAL, when they move from WLIB (1190 AM) to WWRL (1600 AM).

LOL, I crack myself up sometimes, but here's what's happening...

Looking for Air America, including Al Franken and company? Turn your dial to the right and stop at 1600 (or 16 or 160 depending on what type of radio you have).

If 1190 comes in better, and you don't mind gospel music, then stay tuned in right there.

Don't ask me what is currently on 1600 a.m. in New York, as none of the articles I skimmed to learn of this event mentioned it. By the way, this all happens starting September 1st, and supposedly 1600 carries a weaker signal than 1190 so you might not be able to hear Air America anymore in some parts of the city or surrounding communities (NJ and CT).

Country Music Movin' Away from LA

Mister (or Ms.) country music fan, you got screwed by some suits making decisions with their heads up their you-know-whats when Country 93.9 KZLA abruptly turned off the country switch this morning, and totally flipped formats to a pop music station. They are now known as Movin 93.9, "The Mix That Makes You Move."

You know where the friggin mix is going to make you move, don't you? Just a few notches up the dial to K-FROG at 95.1 FM.

Of course, you are welcome to stay tuned in and listen to Top-40 huckster Rick Dees every morning instead of Peter Tilden and sexy sidekick Ashley Paige, but he's not going to be counting down YOUR favorite songs, is he?

In related news, DJMOVES would like to send a heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Rick Dees for getting back into the game with his first full-time radio gig since being replaced by American Idol-Boy Ryan Seacrest-Out two years ago. Welcome back to the air, Rick - it's good to see you back on your feet.

In the company press release, Rick Dees stated that the new station gets him excited like he's never been before: "...the new Movin 93.9 gets me excited like I've never been before!"

Skafish Fillet

The Chicago Shuffle continues, as Bobby Skafish is fired from his afternoon shift on 93 XRT after spending nearly 20 years with the station.

Taking over for Skafish will be Frank E Lee; Jason Thomas was hired to take over Frank's evening duties.

Fired DJ Fires Back with Phat Lawsuit

Star of the Star & Buc Wild Morning Show, who recently had his charges dropped after making on-air threats to his competitor's daughter, has filed a $55 MILLION lawsuit against a New York City Councilman who called Star a pedophile.

In related news, Star's mom has sued another Miss Jones of Star's rival station Hot 97 for $11 MILLION for calling her (Star's mom) names while in mid-rant about Star.

Will negotiations lead to Star returning to the air? What happened to Buc Wild and the rest of the cast? Does anybody care anymore about this crew?

Still sleeping in, but at least he has a job

Scotty Bud Melvin just wrote to me, and I'm sure he won't mind if I share the news:
Just wanted to let you know I'm back on the radio in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I remember you had a blurb when I was unceremoniously canned last fall. Well, I'm back on Kalamazoo's Real Rock Station, 92.3 WZUU. This station kicks ass. I will be handling the 2-6 pm shift.

I'll be havin' fun, playing some great music, and hopefully telling it like it is, as Kalamazoo's Voice of Reason for 20 years. Thanks.

Scotty "Bud" Melvin,

It's good to see one of our peeps back on the air. Looks like KDawg is going to have to turn in his satellite radio.

Only took a few "Dai"s for Jim Dai

Just a few weeks ago, we told you how 880 AM (KIXI) in the Seattle-Tacoma area fired all their DJs to save some money and deliver you crap in the form of a syndicated music service called the Crap of Your Life (or something like that).

Well it looks like at least one of the fired radio hosts from 880 landed on his feet. Jim Dai is now on in the mornings; tune into Smooth Jazz at 98.9 FM (KWJZ) to hear Jim with his new co-host, Gina Tuttle.

Is Jim happy to have moved from AM to FM? Is Gina related to Tom Tuttle from Tacoma? Tune in to the show to find out!

Hurricane Whoopi

It was announced in May that Whoopi Goldberg would soon have her own syndicated radio show, beginning next month on radio stations across the country, but no stations have been disclosed.

Until today.

As the news broke today of the first major station to pick up the new Wake Up with Whoopi morning radio show, something sort of obvious occurred to me. For every new Whoopi affiliate that is announced, one-by-one, you will also hear the sound of each those stations' existing morning DJs being fired, one-by-one. Picture Whoopi flying across the country, or up the coast like a hurricane - Hurricane Whoopi (will they ever name one that? Not according to the NOAA) - overtaking stations and replacing DJs as affiliate deals are signed. Maybe it won't be total destruction. If we're all lucky, the Whoopi show will replace Jack-FM in some markets!

The first victim of Whoopi's global radio expansion? The beautiful and probably-very talented Melissa Forman, as Whoopi ascends upon WLIT in Chicago; Melissa has hosted the Melissa Forman Morning Show for 5 years on the dial at 93.9 FM in Chicago. Five years as a morning host in a tough town like Chi-town is nothing to sneeze at, but where will Melissa go now that Whoopi is here?

Another DJ checks check her out

Hey everybody, I just noticed this comment posted somewhere else on

My name is D'Anne Burley I am a internet Radio talk Show Host who speaks her mind.

And I am doing a program tonite about the issue of the change within the radio stations to removed human beings and replace all with this shuffle which means that there will be no talk to expose corruption and or any other information that those who like to not only jam but want more personalized broadcasting approach.

The recent removal of Mancow from the role of Q101 shows the intent.

Tonight on from 6-7 pm central I will discuss this issue you and everyone else viewing this can call in on the line.

Call in line available is 1-712-432-3000 ext 441930#

Sorry folks, looks like this Internet-radio show might have been useful to know about YESTERDAY, as she discussed this topic Monday evening, but I forgot to check my email Monday because I'm a jackass. Oh well, check out anyway and give D'Anne a call. Mention enough, and maybe I'll send you a free autograph.

Toledo Mud Hens

WTF. Come on now guys, it's 2006. You can't go on the air and prank call Chinese food and sushi restaurants and make fun of the way the people that answer talk, and make racially insensitive comments. People are people, and if you do that kind of stuff, you just plain suck. You just don't do that.

That is, unless you are Josh Lucas Garber, a DJ on Tower 98-3 (WTWR 98.3 FM) in Toledo. As you might expect, Lucas has been suspended without pay (I guess that's like being temporarily fired).

In completely unrelated news, except that it involves a DJ and Toledo, a guy named Munchie is the new afternoon drive guy at KISS 95.7 in Hartford. Munchie comes to Hartford from KISS 92.5 WVKS in Toledo (hence).

When Munchie's parents came up with the name Brian Donovan, they probably thought of all the bad nicknames other kids might call him, and somehow overlooked that kids might call him "munchie". In any event, it looks like Munchie will be in Hartford for a while... he's got his own logo and a cool blog on the station's website.

Mancow, OUT (spoken to the tune of the phrase, "Seacrest, OUT")

Mancow's last day on Q101 (WKQX FM) in Chicago will be this Friday according to a press release from the station and Emmis - the greedy corporate warlord that owns the station.

Whether you love Mancow or hate him like mejeffdorchen, you have to agree that it would be better to have a real host like Muller than the Jack-FM crap they are replacing him with in Chicago (called "Shuffle").

In fact, Mike Stern, the station's Vice President of Programming, tells you on their website to "Enjoy the Summer of Shuffle".

Mr. Stern, I will not enjoy your Summer of Shit. I've got my own iPod.

Fans of Atom and Maria in Houston, You've Got a Problem

Atom Smasher and Maria Todd of Atom and Maria in the Mornings were fired from Houston's 104 KRBE after their Friday shift, their keys were confiscated and they were escorted out of the station. Sounds like they didn't see this one coming and are likely working on their resumes (or the DJ-multimedia equivalent) as we type.

A new, yet to be announced morning show is coming in to replace them on July 24th according to news reports such as this one by Andrew Guy writing for the Houston Chronicle. Atom and Maria had only replaced Sam Malone (the DJ, not the Cheers character) a year ago, who went across town to Mix 96.5 KHMX (No, I'm not really sure if the stations are across town from each other, or across the street, or in nearby suburbs.) Mix 96.5 fired Roula & Ryan of the Roula & Ryan Show to bring in Sammy. I don't care what happened to Roula and Ryan, but if you really want to tell us, go ahead and post a comment below.

Pigging Out: Jessie and Terrance Fired from KPIG

Overnight DJs Jessie and Terrance were fired last week, and afternoon host Ramblin' Ror had his full-time job reduced to part-time, as KPIG implemented automated programming to save a few bucks despite its corporate creed:
"We're an anachronism - a throwback to the days when real DJs picked out the music, and listeners expected something more from a radio station..." (read the rest of their line of crap here)

Is the PIG on its way to becoming another JACK FM? Does anybody else smell bacon cooking?

KPIG is found at 107.5 on the dial and broadcasts out of Freedom, California, near Santa Cruz. Since Freedom only has a population of about 6,000 residents, here are 3 links related to nearby Santa Cruz:

Tic Tak - July 7, 2006

Tic Tak is out like Billy Martin. Again, and often.

Even though we haven't mentioned him since the last time we thought he was fired from Kiss 103.5, it seems he was either re-hired or that the firing was just a hoax, and he has apparently been fired... again.

Robert Feder, columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, points out that it's real this time since Tic Tak (aka Mark Allen) has vanished from the station's website; but I'm not buying it, as they've gone that far before.

That Girl in the Morning

This is the type of wacky thing you would see on Jay Leno if you stayed up that late. There is a radio show in Florida called "Those Two Girls in the Morning", but the station suddenly fired one of the Two Girls (Deena Lang)! Now the station has a show called "Those Two Girls in the Morning", but it only has one host remaining (Julie Guy).

Does she has a split personality, are they going to swap out Deena Lang with a similar sounding "girl" and hope you - the listeners - are none the wiser, or are they going to change the stupid name of the show?

Please end the suspense! If you live in the Miami-Hollywood-Ft. Lauderdale area, tune into 97.3 The Coast and let us know what the heck is going on in the morning.

DJs check in but they don't check out

Within the past 6 hours, including just moments ago, 2 of your favorite radio personalities checked in to our little roach motel on the 'net to let listeners know what is going on in their lives. Sorry guys, we still haven't heard from Julie Hoyt-Fisk (where the hell are you, Julie?)

Earlier this afternoon, Scotty "Bud" Melvin checked in from Michigan to let us know he'll be back on the air soon; he wants you to visit his AWESOME website for the scoop, as he will soon announce the lucky radio station and his airtime. Don't worry, we'll tell you, too (hey, Scotty, make sure you tell us when you're ready to make the announcement!)
Also, if you REALLLLY like Scotty Bud, go watch the freakin' Kalamazoo Kings this summer and I think you'll hear him in the announcers booth. Seriously.

And just a few moments ago, hot radio chick Annrae from WLRS checked in from Louisville to first of all point out that she's the boss (I'm not going to question that!), and second of all to give us some additional scoop-action for her station (We'll take what we can get!)
Not only do they now have the Mo Radio Show in the afternoons, but it also looks like Bender is going on a .... (uhhh, what's that word for a long drinking binge?)...
"Bender is going to be replaced by Galvin (from 99Rock in Ft Walton Beach) tomorrow."

The Return of MO

You heard it hear first! Well, maybe you only READ it here, but you get the idea. Fans cried out in horror, and wrote to us in droves when KHBZ 94.7 FM "The Buzz" canceled The Mo Morning Show starring Bryan Modzelewski last December over alleged on-air sexual content that ticked a lot of people off. (full story). Well, it worked (or at least maybe it helped!), because Mo is BACK on the air on Louisville's rock station, WLRS!

Hot radio chick Annrae will certainly be playing a lot of Mother Love Bone after learning that she is being replaced in the afternoon drive slot (3 - 7) with the Mo Radio Show! Tune your dial to 104.3 or 105.1 (I hate when stations do that) in the Louisville area to hear Mo on your way home from work soon (anyone know his start date?)

Is it only a matter of time until Mo proves himself worthy of the coveted morning show duties, and Bender is banished to overnights-only? Or will Mo tick enough people off in this new market to be fired, fined, and banished from the airwaves once again? And really, does anybody care? Stay tuned...

Here are 3 Louisville links; Mo, if you're listening, you might want to check these out:
Churchill Downs (in case you stay at the station long enough to go to next year's Kentucky Derby)
The Center For Women and Families (you might want to just go ahead and make a financial contribution now and get it over with)
The Ali Center (no witty comments, just a cool place to visit!)

Tune into 96.5 The Mountain in Chattanooga, TN, and you'll hear some new voices: Brad Steiner moves from afternoons to a.m. to help improve the morning drive with Jason Walker.
Oz gets to go to bed earlier (if he chooses) as he takes over afternoons. Oz's old night spot will be manned by Jeremy "Fat Kid" Powell, formerly part of the morning show on 99X in Atlanta. (I guess it's a promotion even though it's a smaller town since it's his own gig, right?)

Lexie Kaye leaves Savannah for the river

I love Savannah, but I guess you can't pass up a morning gig in Hot-Lanta when it's offered to you, right? So, Lexie Kaye is moving from Savannah to the big city and becomes the morning DJ for The New 97.1 The River (WSRV) in Atlanta. I guess if you were looking for her on "The Drive" or Rock 106.1 in Savannah, you're going to have to drive inland and tune your dial to 97.1.

Here are 3 Atlanta links you should not miss:

The Crap of Your Life

Are you wondering what the heck happened to all your DJs on 880 AM (KIXI) in the Seattle-Tacoma area? You're not going crazy, you've got the right station tuned in, but let me tell it to you straight up like nobody else will:

All your favorite DJs were fired and replaced with a Jack-FM style syndicated music service, called "Music of Your Life", featuring all the CDs you bought ten years ago but never listen to.

That's right... Jim Dai and Jim Kampmann in the mornings, Jack Morton in evenings, Dan Murphy... All fired. Actually, Dan Murphy is staying on to make sure everything stays plugged in, according to Bill Virgin (yes, that's his name; it is also the name of an airline, record label, phone company and was even a soda pop at one time, so deal with it) reporting for the Seattle P.I.

Mad Max Morning Show Goes Beyond Thunderdome?

If you look at the DJ page on Myrtle Beach SC's 101.7 Rock Radio KZQ, all that's left of the Mad Max Morning Show is ABBI, the uber-hot co-host & producer of the show. No word or mention of Mad Max himself, or Jersey Boy, The NEWEST Member Of The Mad Max Morning Show (although Radio and Records Magazine reports JB is sticking around with Hot-ABBI). Stay tuned!

Maybe this is big news if you live in Des Moines, Iowa, but it probably doesn't take much.

Des Moines radio personality Steve Deace announced during his show Tuesday that he would leave his 4-7 pm shift at KXNO (AM-1460) and move to sister station WHO (AM-1040) to host a program from 4-7 pm.

Y101 just got Sludgier

Brian "Sludge" Haddad is reportedly your new morning man at Richmond's New Rock Y101 (Virginia) as of June 5, 2006.

The Sludge-hammer has bounced between a variety of stations in Chicago over the past ten years, and fills the void at Y101 left by Charlie Padgett, who is now on The Point - a network of stations throughout Vermont - with co-host Zeb Norris.

After a year of being on mostly east coast stations, The Steve Harvey Morning Show is returning to its original homebase of Los Angeles according to Radio Ink Magazine.

The show will air beginning May 30th on 93.5 KDAY and 93.5 KDAI. Not sure why there are two stations on only one station, but you can get either station by tuning your dial to 93.5 FM.

The wonderful thing about Tigger

... and Egypt is that they are only temporary, according to Clear Channel publicist Josefa Paganuzzi. While other media have touted Tigger and Egypt as a permanent replacement of the recently fired Star and Buc Wild, the "temporary" part of the story was first reported by Hillary Crosley writing for Billboard Radio Monitor, a reliable industry magazine.

Star goes Wild, gets Buc'd

UPDATE 5/12/06: Hip-Hop Radio D.J. "Star" Arrested... [AL BAKER, NY Times]

Original post:
Clear Channel, which owns Power 105, announces:
"As of late this afternoon, (Star / Troi Torain) is no longer with Power 105.1 or Clear Channel Radio. We sincerely apologize to those who may have been offended by his remarks."

On Friday, Star (of the Star & Buc Wild Morning Show) appeared to insult the wife of Hot 97's DJ Envy, & allegedly threatened the couple's 4-year-old daughter with explicit, sexual comments.

Full story from NBC.

Ironically (right?), the day before these on-air comments were made, a pro-Star article in the NY Daily News stated "In the world of radio, Star's position is solid."

YeeHa, WooHoo, Whoopi!

Tune into one of many still yet-to-be-announced radio stations across the country between 5 to 9 a.m. on Monday July 31 2006 to hear the tentatively titled "Wake Up With Whoopi Show", starring Whoopi (no, it's not whoopie, just Whoopi) Goldberg.

While we don't know what station to tell you to tune into, or who is getting fired, we do know that the show will be on regular radio, not xm or sirius, according to several news reports which include this one from the Washington Post as well as this one from USA TODAY.

What I didn't know about Whoopi Goldberg before today:
She has won an Oscar (for Ghost), a Grammy, an Emmy, a Tony and two Golden Globes.

Elvis Sightings in Miami?

Elvis Duran and the Z Morning Zoo on Z-100 in New York is soon also going to be Elvis Duran and the Y 100 Morning Zoo in Miami. Why? Elvis, Zoo, etc, will be simulcast from NYC so that the station in Miami will have something with which to replace Kenny and Footy, er, I mean, "The Footy in the Morning Radio Show". (Why do all the radio industry news websites act like Kenny never existed and it's been the Footy show forever, when Kenny was fired just a few weeks before Footy's supposed "retirement"?)

Ok, Elvis holds his own in NY and will probably do well in Miami, but it probably helps that he is bringing with him former K & F hottie Carolina Bermudez who moved to NY to join the Zoo last year.

First Kenny, Now Footy

It's almost like when Y 100.7 in Miami fired Kenny 90 days ago, they were going to fire Footy, too; but maybe the executives decided to give him 3 months notice and let him say he was "retiring" because either they liked him better than Kenny, or because he's old and they felt bad, or better yet, maybe he had something on the station.

Whatever the reason or behind-the-scenes story, the Miami Herald and several other south Florida papers reported that Footy "retired" today.

If you look at the article in The Herald and the Y 100.7 website, it looks like "Kenny-All-Star-Week" will involve rebroadcasting a lot of old material with the finale coming on Friday, May 5th. Yes, this Friday. Sure, he "retired". With one week's notice.

So, did Footy really "retire", or was this really all about slipping ratings as we suggested when it was first reported that Kenny had been canned? Or, was Footy just afraid of another Anthrax threat?

Anyway, I don't think I ever gave you any cool Miami links, so here ya go:

Reagan does lunch in Seattle

Ron Reagan, son and namesake of the former president, has signed on to do a daily hour-long program on 710 KIRO, where he'll also serve as chief political analyst; the Seattle talk radio station seems to have shuffled their lineup to accomodate the one-time MSNBC anchor.

Try to follow the rest of the station changes:
Dave Ross returns to a 9 a.m. start time and Ron Upshaw and Don O’Neill (Ron and Don) replace Dave Ross in the afternoon, coming from New Orleans, Dallas and San Francisco (not sure which they were at most recently). Complete lineup as follows; but, knowing you, you'll probably just listen while you're driving whenever you are going to or from work to get the headlines weather and traffic, regardless of whose on:

710 KIRO Morning News with Gregg Hersholt and Jane Shannon, 5am-9am

"The Dave Ross Show," 9 a.m.-12 noon

"The Ron Reagan Show," 12 noon-1 p.m.

"The Dori Monson Show," 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.

"The Ron and Don Show," 4 p.m.- 7 p.m.

"The New York Vinnie Show," 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

I'm not sure if he's not a 'junior' (like W due to different middle names), or if he just prefers not to go by "junior" to try to distance himself from his deceased dad's right-wing ways.

George McFly, This is Your Density

If you live in Denver and were looking for George McFly (the radio DJ, not Michael J. Fox's dad in Back to the Future), you'll have to turn your dial from Alice 105.9 (KALC) down to 99.9 FM(KVUU) out of Colorado Springs. You probably won't mind, because it looks like both stations play the same top 40 crap. I guess it's just a matter of which station comes in better.

McFly was on evenings at Alice, but I'm not sure when he's on at 99.9.

FMBQ, a radio industry magazine, says that Davin Fesmire (say that 3 times fast!) is replacing McFly at Alice, but as of this posting Alice's website is silent on the subject.

Non-satellite radio will be better now.

UPDATE 4/21/06: New details emerging of how the Opie and Anthony show will be shared between XM and CBS radio, uncensored and censored, live on both outlets. Looks like Roth will be totally eliminated; no mention of the fate of Adam Carolla, but if Opie and Anthony do well in their initial 7 markets for CBS, then I'm sure Adam will be looking over his shoulder!

All over but the shouting?

It's always here and now, my friend
It ain't once upon a time
It's all over but the shouting
I'll come and I'll take what's mine
We're searching for the latest thing
A break in this routine
Talkin' some new kicks
Ones like you ain't never seen

Anyone know what original VH song these lyrics are from? I can't get them out of my head after reading this article that popped up on Yahoo news this morning. It's starting to look more and more like Diamond Dave won't go six months on Free FM.
But who knows? He's a veteran rock star and has admitted that he has invested so much time and energy into this project that he wants to make it work. With that kind of talent and enthusiasm, I'd put my money on Diamond Dave to stick around for a while, even if he is a longshot, and even if it's against the will of his new bosses. It probably takes any new DJ six months to get a groove on in a new gig, so let's give him some breathing room, Free FM management, and let the man learn how to ROCK again!

London Calling

San Francisco's FREE FM station, 106.9 KFIR, has a big empty hole in its line up after firing John London this past weekend. The San Jose Mercury News reports that London was fired for "offering a reward on the air to have talk host Penn Jillette killed."

I think Don Imus would have been fired about 10 years ago (or more, but I think he really was fired back then!) if such on-air stunts were to be taken seriously every time a DJ says such a thing. Soooo, the only thing I can figure is either London's ratings sucked and they were looking for an excuse to fire him, or perhaps he made similar comments while off-the-air, thus making his on-air "threats" convincing to some. I think the money is in the former choice rather than the latter, and the company is afraid of ticking off poor ol' Jillette.

Obviously, London claimed his death-for-hire comments were simply satire and were sarcastic; that was probably the case.

In typical radio station fashion, the website is silent on the episode as if the DJ never existed (which is why THIS website does exist!)

Jagger to replace Roth in Dallas?

Rumors are being sent to me, and posted on this site, that Dallas is getting one of its missing DJs back next Monday when Jagger (not Mick) replaces (or follows) the struggling David Lee Roth (syndicated out of NY) on Live 105.3 Free FM.
Will this really happen? Will Jagger (not Mick) be joined by Julie Fisk as well?
Stay tuned for this developing story!

Power 105.1 gets a Clue

According to Chris Richburg writing for, New York's Hot 97 has lost DJ Clue to rival station Power 105.1 (WWPR). DJ Clue will get a better schedule than he had with his midnight shift at 97, as he will air evenings from 6 to 10 on 105.

DJ Clue is not the first personality to make the switch. Ed Lover and Star & Bucwild were also on Hot 97 before moving to Power 105.1.

According to the stations' web sites, Hot 97 is the "Official #1 for Hip Hop and R&B", and Power 105.1 is "NY's Certified #1 for Hip Hop and R&B", so it's sort of a lateral move, I guess.

Good luck, Clue.

Freak Show Yo Yo

(Or maybe, Freak Show See Saw, or Tic Tak Yo Yo). This may be getting a little annoying to some, but it's sort of my job to tell you about it. Looks like Tic Tak and the Freak Show are BACK on the air in Chicago at 103.5 Kiss FM (WKSC).

Try and keep up; I may have this wrong, but here we go...
We first reported to you that they turned up in Chi-town from Detroit, and then that they were fired after just a few weeks.

We then indicated that the firing story may have been a publicity stunt, but then they were REALLY off the air due to a contract dispute. Now, about a month later, here they are again (click link and scroll down to see Robert Feder's report in the Chicago Sun-Times).

Of course, the note does appear in the bottom of the Sun-Times April Fools edition, so who knows if they are really there or not. Please post a comment or send us an email if you know the truth.

Dropped like two hot potatoes

I can't believe that within 3 months I am already posting another item about a radio station in Idaho (see previous Idaho story)! But when two people have been on the air for 15 years with the same station, and they are suddenly off the air with virtually no notice, I'm sure you Idahoans (people from Idaho) are wondering what in potatoes name happened to Jon Duane and Chris Kelly - the AM Idaho morning team at NewsRadio 580 KIDO.

Well, according to Michael Deeds of The Idaho Statesman, the team disagreed with management about how their show should be run. When they gave 2 weeks notice on Monday, they were sent home immediately.

Now the question is, did it get so ugly that they won't work it out and be back on the air within two weeks? Or, were do they have a big-enough loyal group of listeners that will enable them to get picked up by another local radio or TV station? Stay tuned...

Oh yeah, here are 3 cool links about Idaho:

Diamond in the rough

Diamond David Lee Roth continues to keep listeners and insiders wondering if he'll last the spring before getting fired or quitting his morning show duties.

This past week, he was mysteriously off the air for a few days after broadcasting live from Miami, and now it appears he ranted on the air about how he is not quitting anytime soon. Could just be publicity stuff (is anybody reading this and yearning to tune into Dave's show? Click here)

Well, in my 35 years of watching public figures deny stuff, this is a good indication (IMHO) that DLR is in his last days as a morning show host on Free FM. Should we start a pool? Pick a date and stay tuned.

It's not Hammer-time anymore

Maybe the remaining members of this Fort Wayne Indiana morning show are talking about his departure, but I doubt it.

His myspace page simply states "Jack Hammer NO LONGER EMPLOYED AT X102". Based on the messages of sympathy and encouragement it's not looking like leaving was Hammer's idea.

And so it is that X102.3's morning show, the Morning X, is down a man with the departure of Jack Hammer. Looks like Laureen and JJ are on their own for now on.

Joe Scott & Liz Wilde Fired @ K-Rock

Chris Wadsworth of Southwest Florida's News-Press reports that 96 K-Rock has fired the entire morning show of "The Joe Scott Show", and have also canceled their evening program, "The Liz Wilde Show".

In addition to Joe Scott, the Ft Myers morning show also included Nicole Wilcox, Steve Omelette Normandin and Mr. Windy himself, Charles Shaw.

The article also stated that the team from "The Liz Wilde Show", including Wilde and Mickey English, were fired from the evening program. Liz Wilde was syndicated nationally for a while, and seemed to be an enormously successful chic-shock-jock.

Lisa Foxx expands her empire

Watch out radio world, Lisa Foxx is going take over the airwaves!

After only 2 months since we reported she was re-hired at LA's Star 98.7 (KYSR), she is also now being heard on San Francisco's Star 101.3 (KIOI aka K101).

My bet is that the 35 year old DJ is on the fast track to syndication. Why? Her assets include having Ryan Seacrest as a best friend after co-hosting a radio show with him for more than 6 years, and over 15 years of real radio experience up and down the California coast. Oh, and she's easy on the ears, too!

Is Dave Lenihan a big prick?

Oh my God. I am totally, totally, totally, totally, totally sorry for that.

I guess I meant to say "dumbass", not "prick".
"She's been chancellor of Stanford," Lenihan said on the air. "She's got the patent resume of somebody that has serious skill. She loves football. She's African-American, which would kind of be a big coon. A big coon. Oh my God. I am totally, totally, totally, totally, totally sorry for that."

The Big 550 talk show host said he had meant to say "coup" instead of the racial slur, according to several news reports, including and St. Louis Today.

That would be one of my biggest fears if I were a DJ. Live on the air, it would be so easy to accidentally say something you don't mean. And once the words leave your mouth, you can't go back and edit it the way I can edit my posts on this website.

Who knows what's in this guy's head, and if he really meant to call Condi a coon or even use the words "Condi" and "coon" in the same paragraph. Given the context of his entire on-air rant, is it possible an apology could have been enough, or was firing him the right thing to do? Comments, please.

Oregon Rivers

Is there a river in Portland? There is now... Bob Rivers, that is. LOL.

(That attempt at a word-play joke was about as lame as a Bob Rivers song parody.)

Anyway, The Bob Rivers Show, which is the morning team at 102.5 KZOK in Seattle, has expanded south in the state and north on the dial to Portland (Oregon, not Maine) via Mix 107.5 (KVMX).

Who loses at Mix 107.5 in Portland (besides, possibly, the listeners?):
The booted morning D.J., Tim Taylor, gets to sleep in and host afternoons on the station. That means afternoon-guy Jeff Thomas gets screwed, and has to move to the night shift at sister station K-Hits 106.7 (KLTH).

Lexington sports talk-show host fired

You won't learn this at the CT School of Broadcasting. How to get caught drunk driving:
Swerve in front of a cop in a marked police car, cutting him off and making him slam on his brakes.
Then, while he's following you, proceed to cross the center line several times.
After the police officer turns on his lights to pull you over, don't stop right away.
But when you finally do stop, get out of your car and run, even as the officer yells for you to stop.
For extra effect, it helps if you also previously pleaded guilty to DUI within the past 3 years.

This is, allegedly, what Lexington radio sports talk-show host Tim Woodburn did this past weekend when he was arrested for DUI. In addition to being a weeknight host, Woodburn is the sports director for WVLK AM, News/Talk 590.

Woodburn quickly decided to seek alcohol treatment, and asked for a 30 day leave of absence, but was immediately fired from his job anyway. Okay, driving drunk is wrong - you could kill yourself, or worse, others. BUT, don't forget alcoholism is a disease and this guy is asking for help and is already signed up for a treatment program. Don't you think the station should give him a break? Or should he be hung-out to dry-out?

Per usual, the radio station's website is silent on the subject of their former talker, and their program schedule page is void of any reference to Woodburn.

No Justice for Justis

If you live in Iowa City, and you listen to a radio program hosted by a 65 year old man on an AM station, you probably don't expect to hear much excitement. However, that wasn't the case if you tuned in this past Friday morning to KXIC, 800 AM in Iowa City.
At 7:30 a.m. yesterday, Roy Justis announced to listeners that he was leaving the station after thirty-seven (yes, 37 years).

According to Rachel Gallegos of the Iowa City Press-Citizen, Justis had only received one raise in the last 6 years, and it was only friggin' 3%. (I added the "friggin" part).

Are you wondering what happened to Kitty Felde, host of Talk of the City on KPCC in LA?
So are a lot of media-types. The award-winning host is out after 5 years, given one day's notice and an option to take a job as a reporter. The reason: sort of murky. Freak Fired in Chicago?

Just 30 days ago we reported to you that the Chicago Sun Times reported to us (and everyone else) that Tic Tak and the Freak Show were coming to Chicago from Detroit for afternoons on Kiss 103.5.

Did the whole show - or part of it - get fired already?

I don't live in Chicago, and I haven't seen any new news, BUT my website logs show that tons of people have searched looking for news about Freak Show on Kiss. (don't worry, I can't tell WHO searched for what... only what the search terms were). Maybe I'm reading the logs wrong, and the show just started today. But there's no mention of the show on the Kiss 103.5 website (and I don't have enough brain cells to remember if there was on 1/31 when I reported on their arrival at the station - maybe it's just not up yet?) Anyway, if you know anything about Tic Tak, The Freak Show, Etc, please post a comment, or email me at REQUESTS @ DJMOVES.COM. (let me know if you want to remain anonymous or if I could use your name or whatever. please don't spam me stupid spam machines.)

UPDATE from They ARE OUT! or, they just may be on vacation and pulling a stunt... STAY tuned!

Off the Air America in Phoenix

Mitch in Phoenix reported this ear-witness account on The Brad Blog today:

I live here in phoenix and although we had been told that the station had been sold to a Christian-programming group we were NOT told when the last day for Air America on the air would be. So this morning instead of Charles Goyette I got some preacher............

But justjudy, fyi Phoenix is awake, alive and kicking. And having lived here for the past 5 years or so i have found that the radio stations here in town change formats more often than some people change their underwear. Air America will be back sooner than later.

CBS suing Stern. Why should you care?

I'm not sure. Why is this a big story?
Maybe because it involves a celebrity and possibly HUNDREDS of millions of dollars to Howard Stern personally.
Because so many of you day-traders picked up stock in SIRI when they announced Howard was coming on board; or, if you're like me, you picked it up in the low-$5 range when they announced Mel was coming on board in November 2004.
Maybe because Sirius is still a small fragile money-losing company (wait - I just said I own stock in it!), and a couple-hundred million dollar lawsuit has the potential to cripple it!

For this site, it's important because we want to watch what happens with Stern (he'll stay at Sirius on the satellite thing, right?), and we like to watch one of his replacements, DLR, squirm. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Original-VH fan, and even went to see Diamond Dave solo once, but now he's embarrassing me - because I'm embarrassed for him (although less so than when he became an EMT).
Actually, now that he has taken so much heat, I'm actually rooting for David Lee to be a huge success in his latest endeavor. But I have to wonder; is it any wonder he is on vacation THIS week? While his new employer is suing the pants off the man whose shoes he is trying to fill?

Can't wait to hear how this one plays out.
Stay tuned...

Cadillac Jack is set free

WXTU in Philadelphia used to have an afternoon personality named "Cadillac Jack", who had been with the station for 6 years.

Today, the station's website's "on air staff" section has a gaping hole between 3pm and 7pm. No mention of Caddy or his alter-ego, Tom Kapsalis.

What happened to CJ?

Conched out in Key West

The Cool Jazz you used to listen to in Key West on WCNK 98.7 Conch FM will now sound like Country Music, as the station has changed formats and will now be known as Conch Country. I don't care for Conch Fritters, but they are popular in KW, as is Dolphin (Mahi Mahi, not Flipper).

Also, you won't find the radio station's new DJs - morning show "Big D & Bubba" and "Lia at Night" - hanging out at the Hog's Breath or the real Sloppy Joes because they are syndicated from another studio or station on the mainland.

Quad City, Quad City, Quad City

This article is so annoying to people who don't live in Quad City, wherever that is. I think it's in or includes Davenport, Iowa.

Oh well, if you are from the Quad City area, you will be happy to learn the following: The Quad City Times is reporting that "Red Hot" Brian Scott can now be found at Quad-City station KBEA 99.7 FM, known as Quad City B-100. Red Hot was formerly the afternoon host at Quad City's All Hit 98.9, and is now part of the "Red Hot and Darik in the Morning" show with his new partner Darik Kristofer. Kristofer is the former weeknight guy at All Hit 98.9 who spells his name with too many K's for my liking. Quad City's All Hit 98.9 is now a Quad City Christian station.

Previous B-100 morning man Jeff James is now the morning man on Star 93.5 (KQCS).

Mr. DJ, You're no Adolph Hitler

I am not comparing Hitler to Kennedy, but Blaine Young to Dan Quayle. Unlike Lloyd Bentsen's relationship with Kennedy, I didn't know Hitler, nor would he be a friend of mine. (Okay, I can see why even mentioning the name "Hitler" can make everybody feel uncomfortable, as I suddenly feel like I'm typing on eggshells).

Despite my awkward analogy, why not compare the Young to Quayle, since Young is a republican who is in trouble for "comparing the president of the Frederick County Commissioners to Adolf Hitler" according to a story in yesterday's Baltimore Sun, while Quayle was a young republican who unsuccessfully compared himself to JFK. And of course, there was Quayle's infamous Potatoe Incident which was also a damaging verbal faux pas.

While mine may also be an "unfortunate analogy", Young, who is noted on WFMD's website for "stirring the pot" on his show titled Frederick's Forum, may be on the short-timers list at his ClearChannel owned station. IMHO, I don't think Quayle is all that stupid, nor do I think that Blaine Young is anti-Semitic.

To either support or voice your disagreement with Blaine Young, you can call the station at the number posted on their website:

Julie is really not coming back!

Tony & Cappy have a new chick for the New Morning Mix:
Mix 102.9 (KDMX FM) in Dallas is bringing in Kelly Schafer, from KQIA FM in Lafayette, Louisiana, as morning news and traffic anchor with Tony & Cappy.

So, it must be official, Dallas. Julie Hoyt-Fisk is really, definitely, not coming back.

This is kinda like when a character leaves a TV show, and they say their on vacation or at summer camp. Then, suddenly, they say he died in a car accident, and you know he's never coming back on the show!

Now the only question is... Where will Julie turn up next?

Knocked Off the Air in Newberry

According to Scott Brand of The Evening News, WNBY 1450 AM and WNBY 93.7 FM in Newberry, Michigan, were both knocked off the air this week when their broadcasting tower was hit by a car - hard enough to topple right onto the radio station's building. NOBODY WAS HURT, not even the driver or the radio staff in the building that was hit.

It could be several days to several weeks before your AM classic country and FM adult contemporary stations are back on the air in MI.

Neander-Paul Lives!

Rumor has it that Southy's own Paul Marshall (aka Neander-Paul), who we told you parted ways with Boston's WAAF back in November, will be turning up in Kansas City after a brief stint as a weekend jock with Boston's other rock station 104.1 WBCN.

Radio and Records says to look for him in KC starting in March on 98.9 "The Rock" (original) KQRC.

As of today, Paul's bio is still on WBCN's website; it includes the following touching bit, perfect for sharing with you on this Valentine's Day:
Favorite moment in my career: Feeling the love the first day I stepped into the WBCN studios. I'm not bullsh*ttin' you. I've been doing this a long time. NEVER thought I'd ever work for the station that is the whole reason I chose this as my profession. You made it the right decision. And it's amazing to be here. Thank You!

Eddie Floyd: Off the Air Again

After returning to regular Reno radio show last Wednesday, DJ Eddie Floyd announced Friday he will take a hiatus from his talk show on KBDB 1400 AM, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal of Reno, Nevada.

Eddie Floyd hosted two shows: "Nevada Matters," 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and "America Matters," 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. We're talking about Eddie Floyd the DJ in Reno accused of growing & selling pot, not to be confused with Eddie Floyd the musician.

We found Mo!

Oprah, XM. XM, Oprah.

That's right, with tons and tons of investor money to spend, and a pissing contest going on to see who could sign up the best talent, almost anybody can have a satellite radio show.

I know, I know, Oprah is not just anybody! She is the Queen of ALL Media. I'm sure it's been said before, but she truly deserves to have it said again.

Nobody on daytime TV has a bigger audience (8 Million People Watch Her Each Day!); I think she owns the Oxygen network, which is an entirely separate cable TV station; nobody can sell more books for unknown authors (Imus is a distant 2nd); her website claims that 45 MILLION pages of it are viewed each month by 2.3 MILLION unique individuals; then of course there's "O" magazine (being known by one NAME wasn't enough for her - she needed to start being known as a single letter!); WAYYYY back in 1985 she starred in the movie "The Color Purple", and was nominated for an Academy Award; she is currently producing a Broadway musical by the same name.

So now she is going to be a DJ; actually, Oprah style, she is going to have her own Channel!

Others have claimed to be Media Royalty (Hoo Hoo), but having a popular morning show, a couple of low budget TV productions, and one movie (which happened to be an autobiography), is not nearly on the same playing field as O.

Buffalo Left Wing

Looking for your Oldies station in Buffalo, NY? KB 1520 no longer exists as you once knew it. WWKB 1520 AM is now a progressive talk radio station. Tom Donahue and Danny Neaverth, KB's morning man who has been with the station since 1958 (yes, nineteen hundred, fifty-eight) are off the air. According to Brian Connolly of The Buffalo News, the staff was told Monday that the show they were then doing would be their last. This doesn't sound like the Buffalo values that Tim learned from Big Russ.

Next Monday, Feb 13th, WHLD AM 1270, also in Buffalo, will also become a full-fledged left wing talk radio station. 1270 will be known as the "Voice of Reason" and will be Buffalo's home for Air America according to Buffalo's Business First. The morning show will be manned by Ray Marks and Alex Blair.

Missing in Miami

If you were looking for your regular DJ on one of 8 radio stations in the Miami area today, they were not there. South Florida's CBS 4 reported that Y100.7, Big 105.9, Love 94, 610 WIOD, 940 WINZ, 103.5 BEAT, Mega 94.9, and ZETA remained on the air with recorded programs, while their staffs were bussed to safety pending a police investigation of a phoned-in threat of a "white powder attack." So, it would have been like listening to JACK-FM.

The most relieved person in the vicinity was probably Kenny Walker, who was fired last week from the Kenny and Footy show on one of the threatened stations, Y 100.7. Lucky for Kenny that he didn't need to worry about going through the panic of being evacuated in a potential crisis situation - you know, since he was just recently fired from one of the affected stations... just last week.

Coincidentally (part 2), Miami's Finest underwent (yes, it's a word) an Anthrax attack simulation just last week, according to the Miami Herald.

The Big Dumb Muppet Show?

Fans of Greg Gonzo and his Big Dumb Show who listened to him for 5 years on Indy's Rock Alternative in Indianapolis (X-103 103.3 FM, WRZX), may have been wondering what happened to him. Well, he's in Las Vegas now.

Gonzo (the DJ, not the blue puppet that I thought was a deformed rooster - since he was always trying to bank chickens - but he may actually be an alien) will be turning up with his Big Dumb Show in Sin City, along with his co-host/news reporter Nicole Padberg. As of February 20th 2006, you'll be hearing the show on Area 108 (KVGS, 107.9 FM).

The station just switched to alternative from "urban adult contemporary" this past October

Fired in Fargo

Fargo's KFGO (The Mighty 790) fired radio morning show co-host Larry Ristvedt, sports director Derek Hanson, and weather director Lou Bennett, as well as a few off-air folks, according to an AP story posted on the Grand Forks Herald.

The report states the moves were for financial reasons, and they follow up last week's dismissal of Ed Schultz. Ed Schultz is syndicated on a 100 stations, but broadcasts (until last week) out of the KFGO studio! They replaced him with the "Jack and Sandy Show" (Sandy Buttweiler and Jack Sunday), a team that was fired from the SAME STATION in 2004.

This doesn't help the narrow minded perception I already had of Fargo based on the Coen bros. movie.

Most Popular DJ Searches for January 06

Dear Bryan Modzelewski and Julie Hoyt-Fisk:

We don't know what you're doing now.

I DO know that this site,, has received more requests and searches from listeners looking for you than for any other radio DJ that has gone off the air (since our inception a couple of months ago).

Please let us know what you're doing now so that your listeners can hear you again!
